Transilvania v.1.0

10. février 2004

par BobixLeSage

Introduction

Transilvania v.1.0

Introduction

Transilvania is my frst theme, made from a WindowsBlinds skin « Transilvania » created by Pixtudio. I agree that making a theme from an existing skin is easy, but it makes you earn a lot of time, so you can focus on scripts. It is not that the scripts of Transilvania are exceptional, far from it, but it took me a small amount of time to finish this theme, witch is (I assure you) a big deal for me.

Some might not appreciate the fact that every time you open/close something, there is a !recycle, they would say me that I should better do it with « !reload + !reloadmodule xxx », and I know it, but seeing the number of modules concerned by every action on the top bar, it would be just like doing a !recycle, so to ease me things and go faster, I choose to do !recycles. And after all, whatever you may think, one doesn’t switch things so often, so when you think about it, it is not so annoying, my !recycles. I wanted to defend my point of view on this detail for I know that it will be the first thing to be brought out to me as one of the “bad things”.

Compatibility

This theme was build under Win2kSP4 and the installer 3.02, so it is  OTS2 and works as well under WinXP. For the Win9x platforms, this theme should work as well on them, but I couldn’t test, but as the used modules are all Win9x compatible. (still, no guaranties…)

Installation

Euh !?... if you read this, it is that you already installed Transilvania …lol

Usage

The top bar in it’s default state :

----------

So from left to right : tree buttons for the clock, the Winamp controls and the themepopup, the red flat button opens the shutter with the Transilvania logo, behind it there is an info label, then the big grey bar is the taskbar and finally there is the system tray with his scrolling buttons.

The top bar with all opened :

This bar can be placed on top or on bottom of the screen, you can see the different states of the taskbar and here are some details :

The clock:

Just an analog clok.

Les trois boutons:

Seems evident what they are doing…

The info label :

In usual this label shows the date, but it can also show various information (GMT time, up-time, Swath i-time,cpu load, ram load…) when you hover the label use the mouse scroll to change the displayed information.

A right click opens a popup that let’s you set the automatic change of the displayed info, and to choose the time delay between changes. The red button closes the shutter.

The VWM :

Nothing to say, just the VWM.

The Winamp controls:

You can find here the usual Winamp controls, the label scrolls the playing song and the time (elapsed remaining and total). To choose between time states left click the label and there is a slider for the main volume.

The Rainlendar :

Just a calendar…

And finally the famous themepopup :

It is pretty obvious what is in this menu, so I will explain only the « My Shortcuts » entry. This entry opens a folder « Shortcuts » witch is in the « misc » dir of the theme. By default there is only the recycler shortcut in it, if you want to have other shortcuts in this menu, just open the « Shortcuts » dir and add in it the shortcuts (.lnk files) that you want. You can even make subfolders in it and they will be displayed as sub menus. Don’t forget to !recycle after adding shortcuts so that the change takes place.

Final Note

Note that you use this theme at your own risk.

Also I’m sorry for my bad English.
